Tiffin - Clevedon

We went back to Tiffin in Clevedon on Sunday for Coffee and Cake. This time I had the Chocolate Malteaser cake and a hot chocolate and my husband had the carrot cake and a coffee again.

I really enjoyed the malteaser cake and could have eaten a bigger bit (but that was more down to me being greedy than portion size)! The hot chocolate was a bit nicer this time although still a little bitter. My husband enjoyed his carrot cake and coffee again although he said there was still too much icing on the cake.

Stourhead (National Trust) - Wiltshire

We are National Trust members so regularly visit their properties and of course no visit is complete without coffee and cake! Last Saturday we decided to visit Stourhead in Wiltshire. The main deciding factor being that when we have visited previously they have had really nice cake.

We arrived mid-afternoon and found that most of the cake stands held just crumbs which disappointed my husband a bit but I was happy as they still had 3 slices of chocolate cake left! We both had a slice of chocolate cake. I had a bottle of orange juice and my husband had a cappuccino.

The cake was homemade and delicious. We both enjoyed it and it has made me want to bake a cake this weekend. Our drinks were also nice. On the way out we noticed that the cake stands had all been replenished which horrified my husband a bit as he would probably have had a carrot or a coffee cake had the choice been there when we were looking. It didn’t bother me though as I wouldn’t have had anything different!

Stourhead remains my favourite National Trust restaurant and we will definitely be visiting again for more cake (the house and gardens are good as well, you could probably keep yourself occupied at the property all day).

Corrister White – Clevedon (North Somerset)

Corrister White is on Hill Road in Clevedon. I first discovered it a few weeks ago when I went there with my sister one afternoon. I went in again with my husband last Saturday for coffee and cake. The coffee shop is light and airy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I was hoping for a nice chocolate cup cake like I’d eaten the previous time but unfortunately they didn’t have any (we arrived fairly late on Saturday afternoon) so I settled for a slice of Victoria sponge instead with a hot chocolate and marshmallows to go with it. My husband decided on a slice of a very nicely presented Lemon cake and an Americano coffee.

My cake was very nice. It was moist with a nice raspberry jam and butter cream filling. I could have done with a slightly larger slice though! My hot chocolate was really nice with plenty of marshmallows. My husband enjoyed his lemon cake and said the portion was just the right size. The coffee was also good.

We would visit here again.
