The Garden Tea Rooms – Witley Court (English Heritage), Worcestershire.

We visited Witley Court last Monday and while we were there we had to sample tea rooms.

I had a slice of the chocolate cake and a hot chocolate and my husband had a coffee and a slice of carrot cake.

My husband enjoyed his coffee and cake although he said the carrot cake would have been better if it had had a few less raisins in it (which I found odd as I didn’t realise carrot cake ha raisins in it but apparently it sometimes does).

I enjoyed my cake (although I could have done with a bigger slice but that was more to do with me being particularly hungry rather than any problem with the portion size) and my hot chocolate was very nice but there was no option to add marshmallows which was a bit disappointing but does seem to be the norm for some reason.

Thorntons Café – The Centre:MK, Milton Keynes.

We were in Milton Keynes over the bank holiday weekend for Collectormania 17. I have been going to Collectormania since the fourth one and usually visit the Thorntons Café at least once during the event (although it’s not as easy now that Collectormania has moved out of the shopping centre and into the horrible football stadium).

We visited the Thorntons Café on Saturday afternoon. It was full the first time we tried but we had a look around a few shops and came back and there was plenty of space then.

We both had a slice of the chocolate cake. I had a large hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and my husband had a large latte. We both enjoyed the cake and my husband enjoyed his coffee. I enjoyed my hot chocolate. I particularly like the hot chocolate in the Thorntons café because it is made with actual Thorntons chocolate and hot milk. I was really pleased that they had marshmallows as well as they are sadly lacking in a lot of places!
