Tiffin - Clevedon

We went into Clevedon today with the intention of getting coffee and cake from Corrister & White on Hill Road but on arrival we found that they were closed, as was pretty much everywhere else on Hill Road so we wandered down to the seafront and found Tiffins which was open and looked nice.

It was fairly busy (especially considering it was a windy afternoon in February) but there were plenty of staff and we were quickly seen to. They had a good selection of cakes, everything from Victoria Sponge, Lemon Drizzle, Toffee, Blueberry and Ginger loaf. They aslo had a good selection of Teas and Coffees.

I had a slice of the Double Chocolate cake and a mug of Hot Chocolate and my husband had a slice of Carrot Cake and an Americano Coffee.

My cake was delicious. The sponge was moist and light and the icing was light, fluffy and chocolately. My Hot Chocolate was average. It was just standard hot chocolate with no option for cream or marshmallows which loses it points. It was also slightly more bitter than I would have liked, I think it was made with cocoa powder rather than drinking chocolate powder or melted chocolate.

My husband enjoyed his carrot cake but said there was too much icing on it and the portion was a bit small. The coffee was good.

I would visit again as the cake was fabulous!
